It all started in 2002 as Jans Lawn Care with a young kid named Wyatt Jans and his John Deere LT166. Good small engine service was important from the beginning - but after growing the company to 25 employees and a fleet of mowers - it became even more crucial. After a string of bad service experiences, Wyatt decided it was time to bring on an in-house mechanic.
Wyatt figured if he was getting bad service, how did the average home owner feel. So he created Jans Small Engine to provide exceptional small engine service to customers in the Iowa City area.
All was going great, but Wyatt decided he liked the sales and service aspect of the business and sold Jans Lawn Care in 2015. With more time and a growing opportunity, Wyatt and his wife Liz opened a new store in Des Moines. After being called Jan one too many times, they decided to rename the business after the two most important people in their lives - their kids Alec and Eva.
To this day, AE Outdoor power brings our solid lawn care background and first-hand commercial mowing experience to customers at two servicing locations in Iowa and across the country. -
