Ribbon Cutting & Community Celebration for Newly Completed Urbandale Food Pantry
Urbandale Iowa – September 10, 2025 – Residents in the metro area now have better access to food and support services thanks to the new Urbandale Food Pantry. The Pantry will celebrate the opening of its new facility at 7901 Douglas Avenue with a ribbon cutting and parking lot party on Friday, September 12th at 3:00pm. The event marks the official launch of the Pantry’s expanded location which began serving the public in April 2025.
The celebration will include remarks from Urbandale Mayor Bob Andeweg, Board President Derek Zarn and CEO Patty Sneddon-Kisting, along with facility tours, refreshments, and recognition of donors, volunteers, and the community partners who brought this project to life.

· Location: Urbandale Food Pantry, 7901 Douglas Avenue, Urbandale

“This new facility was built with and for the community,” said Patty Sneddon-Kisting. “It represents not only expanded access to food, but also the dignity and compassion that every family deserves. We are thrilled to celebrate with our neighbors and partners who helped make this vision a reality.”
The Pantry’s new home reflects a bold vision to serve as a community hub, offering expanded services and partnerships beyond food access. Since opening in April, the facility has already welcomed thousands of families and has become a gathering space for collaboration and care.

Founded in 2008, the Urbandale Food Pantry has been a cornerstone of food assistance for Urbandale and the surrounding communities. With a mission of “Giving food with dignity and compassion,” the Pantry continues to grow in response to rising needs. In 2024, it launched the Nourishing our Community campaign to help support construction of its new facility – an important milestone in its commitment to serve more families with dignity and care.
