EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or a related field is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of bank compliance experience at the management level preferred.
  • Maintains relevant professional and/or industry sponsored certifications in risk management and/or compliance, with specific relevance to BSA/AML or Fraud (e.g. – Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), etc.), or has the willingness and ability to earn appropriate certifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the operational, technical and functional structure of financial services organizations, banking systems, and compliance programs.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of Office 365 to include Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates skill in effectively communicating (verbal and written) results to a diverse audience; ability to work with all levels of management with a focus on collaboration and relationship management.
  • Experience working on projects or initiatives requiring strategic planning/thinking across multiple functional areas and business processes.
  • Demonstrates integrity by assuming responsibility for mistakes and failures. Demonstrates consistency between what is said and what is done.  Behaves according to sound ethical and legal standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) related matters which include tracking, validating, evaluating and organizing CRA data. Serves as CRA Officer and interacts with Bank employees to prepare a semi-annual review of the Bank’s designated CRA assessment areas, identifies desirable or undesirable trends within or outside of the Bank’s assessment areas, and provides recommendations to address any concerns.
  • Leads a team of risk evaluation and assurance professionals, working to provide an independent Second Line of Defense approach to risk-based monitoring and evaluation by focusing on current, high impact CFT/BSA/AML, OFAC, Fraud-related compliance risks, developing assessments, and providing input over control effectiveness through formal reporting, as well as monitoring remediation activities.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of CFT/BSA/AML (KYC, CIP, CDD, EDD), OFAC, Fraud compliance regulations and laws including banking/consumer compliance regulations and laws, industry trends, emerging issues, and related banking products (e.g. – lending, deposits, etc.) and understands its applicability to risk management strategies including the scoping of risk evaluations, monitoring, design of testing plans, as well as organizing and leading regulatory exams(CRA, BSA, FDIC, IDOB, etc.).
  • Monitors compliance-related workflows as assigned.
  • Monitors a variety of general industry and compliance specific publications to stay informed about changes in compliance regulations.
  • Collaborates in a leadership role with Bank department heads and designated bank employees within departments to assess and evaluate compliance risk.
  • Conducts staff training in compliance-related topics. Assesses training needs and assigns training to bank staff.  Continually educating staff regarding compliance regulations related to their job duties.
  • Responds to requests for information about and interpretation of regulations. Acts as the central information resource for compliance matters, applicability of laws and regulations related to compliance, and distributor of relevant new and amended compliance regulations impacting the Bank’s activities.
  • Periodically reports to the Board of Directors and senior management on the development and effectiveness of the existing compliance program, compliance risk assessment annual reviews, and recommended compliance program changes.
  • Accumulates information requested by regulatory authorities and in response to regulatory examinations.
  • Conducts policy reviews and prepares policy revisions as needed.
  • Researches and responds to consumer complaints and inquiries involving bank compliance addressed to the Bank or received indirectly through the Ombudsman’s office of the Bank’s primary regulator, the FDIC.
