Officer Meagan Cowden |
Officer Cowden has been a certified Police Officer since 2008. Officer Cowden joined the Urbandale Police Department in 2017. Officer Cowden worked as a Patrol Officer from 2017 to 2022 when she moved to the Support Services Division and began her role as a Community Relations Officer. Officer Cowden is a Field Training Officer, a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor, a R.A.D Instructor, an ALICE Instructor, a Drone Pilot, a Car Seat Technician and is a Crime Scene Investigator. Officer Cowden is also on the Peer Support Team and has been assigned to the Honor Guard. Officer Cowden has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Northern Iowa. Officer Cowden is married, has two daughters and three dogs! |
Officer Kristin Coggeshall |
Community Service Officer Coggeshall was raised/lived in Urbandale and graduated from UHS, she attended DMACC Ankeny and graduated with an AA degree in criminal justice with a law enforcement emphasis in May of 2015. She moved on to Purdue University Global and graduated in the top ten students of her class summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in December of 2018. Shortly before graduation, CSO Coggeshall accepted a position with the Polk County Sheriff’s office as a 911 dispatcher in September of 2018. As of February 2022, CSO Coggeshall began her career with the Urbandale Police Department as a community service officer. She assists the officers in the support services division with developing and maintaining community relationships and programs. Programs include CPA, National Night Out, Safety City, Crime Free Multi Housing reports, and attending presentation requests by schools or daycares in the community. CSO Coggeshall also keeps track of inventory for the PD, installs/safety checks car seats, builds and maintains electronic forms, and teaches child assault prevention around the metro helping young children learn how to stay safe, strong, and free. In May of 2022 CSO Coggeshall joined the crime scene investigation unit and became a certified national child passenger safety technician. In December of 2022 CSO Coggeshall attended classes at the Iowa law enforcement academy and obtained a national forensic crime scene technician certification. CSO Coggeshall holds many continuing education certificates.
