Windsor Heights State of the City

The Windsor Heights Chamber, powered by the Urbandale Chamber, cordially invites you to attend the first-annual Windsor Heights State of the City on Tuesday, June 18th from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. featuring Mayor Mike Jones and Dr. Matt Adams, Superintendent of the West Des Moines School District. 

Mayor Jones will present on the community successes in the past year and look forward to what the community can expect in the future.  Dr. Adams will speak about the state of the West Des Moines school district serving the Windsor Heights community.  Following the State of the City, we will hold a short, hard-hat tour of the Colby Park improvements.

About the Mayor Contact: Mayor Mike Jones can be reached at mike.jones@windsorheights.org. Professional Work & Education Mike Jones was elected to his first term on the Windsor Heights City Council in 2018 and now serves as Mayor. He has been involved in politics since high school and is interested in political issues that affect us at the city, state, and national levels. Mike was born in Des Moines and graduated from Johnston High School. After high school, he attended DMACC, where he earned his Associate of Arts. He attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. Following that, he returned home to attend Drake University Law School where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2011. After passing the bar examination, Mike worked in private practice before joining the State Public Defender’s Office in 2012. An attorney in the Des Moines Adult Office, he represents indigent clients in a variety of matters from serious felonies to simple misdemeanors. He is a member of the Iowa State and American Bar Association. Priorities Mike’s priorities are promoting greater fiscal responsibility in city government, stressing continuing infrastructure improvements on a yearly basis, and encouraging economic growth in a landlocked city. More specifically, Mike’s goals are to see a road or sewer improvement every/every other year and a new economic development project every year. Mike would like to see Windsor Heights as the most sought out community in the metro with affordable housing and destination businesses. Term Mayor Mike Jones' term expires January 2026.

About Superintendent Dr. Matt Adams Dr. Matt Adams has served as the superintendent of West Des Moines School District for the past two years.  Prior to his appointment in West Des Moines CSD, he served as superintendent of Woodward-Granger CSD as well as assistant superintendent of Ankeny CSD.  He has also served as an elementary principal and classroom teacher during his professional career.  His entire career has been in Iowa. Dr. Adams obtained his B.S. from Iowa State University and completed his masters and doctorate at Drake University.
