Mentor/Mentee program launched by Urbandale Chamber

URBANDALE, IA. – The Urbandale Chamber young professionals group introduced its first ever mentorship program to set their young professionals up for success. “The goal of the program is to move beyond referral based networking and create mutually beneficial relationships between mentees and their mentors,” said Brittney Ledford, a leadership team member, and co-chair of the GenYP group.
Mentees are matched with a mentor and required to meet, at minimum, on a quarterly basis to share their thoughts and ideas in hopes to learn and grow from one other. They are not limited to discussing only work-related topics, as this is meant for personal growth as well as professional development.
“I had my first meeting with my mentor just yesterday morning,” said Linda Whittington, mentee. “She is very brilliant and I really feel I am going to gain a lot from her. My hope is that I will be able to be a mentor at some point to give back what I am taking out of this amazing program,” said Whittington.

Congratulations to the 16 mentees that were selected to participate. Their willingness to grow and learn is a key to their success. These young professionals will be leading the way of the future, and the Urbandale Chamber will be there to help pave the way to success.
