Endow Urbandale seeks applications for 2017 grants

The Board of Trustees of Endow Urbandale has announced it will select one or more Urbandale community organizations to receive up to $10,000 in grants for 2017. 

“Endow Urbandale’s mission is to target needs in Urbandale in education, youth development, community betterment, cultural amenities, the arts and health and human services,” says grant chairman Steve Lytle. “We encourage all eligible organizations to apply for a grant.”

Since 2011, Endow Urbandale has awarded 16 grants totaling more than $49,000 to local nonprofit organizations. Last year, the Urbandale Educational Foundation received $2,000 to support educators in creating ideas/ projects that increase student engagement and achievement; the Urbandale Fire Department received $2,000 to purchase smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for distribution; The Urbandale Historical Society received $2,000 to update technology to digitally record and archive documents and photos; the Urbandale Community Action Network received $1,300 to purchase equipment for the Urbandale Miracle League Field & All Inclusive Playground; and the Northwest Rotary Service Above Self Foundation received $2,700 to provide the Urbandale School District with school supplies and backpacks for school students who have a financial need for assistance.

The Endow Urbandale board also will be conducting its annual fund-raising campaign this fall. Gifts made to the Urbandale General Community Endowment Fund qualify for a 25 percent Endow Iowa tax credit in addition to any federal tax benefits for which the charitable gift may qualify.
