AVI Systems Expands Unified Collaboration Team
AVI Systems welcomes Michael Jones and Brandon Marcurella to its Unified Collaboration (UC) team. Both join the team as UC Sales Engineers who support the AVI sales team and its clients.
“AVI’s UC practice is focused on bringing together multiple UC platforms and vendors together into one, simple-to-use solution,” said Brad Sousa, CTO at AVI Systems. “Both have experience with Microsoft’s collaboration solutions, as well as multiple voice and video conferencing platforms.”

Based in St. Louis, Mo., Jones comes to AVI Systems with over 19 years of IT support experience. Before entering this position, he worked as a Microsoft Practice Lead for presales design architects.
The role blended customer-facing responsibility, with management and support. Jones led 12 Microsoft architects, providing support for 26 Microsoft products across Missouri, Illinois and Iowa.
His core background is in IT support, but time spent with customers led him to transition into a role that is primarily design and problem-solving. “Instead of turning the gears, I’m the guy who talks about the gears and designs them,” he said, adding that he plans to stay on this side of IT.
Before joining the team, Marcurella was a Day Two Microsoft Engineer, supporting the partners’ needs and issues on products, including Office 365. Marcurella has supported various systems from companies such as Polycom, Cisco, Microsoft, Skype, and more. And, much of his skill comes from being in situations that force him to learn.
“I put myself in a position to learn,” he said. “It forces me to learn the different environments and technologies and how they interoperate with each other. It’s about finding the resources and using them.”
