Speaker Bio:

Marilyn Jerome, M.A., M.S., Professor, Kaplan University

Marilyn Jerome earned a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Kansas University and conducted research at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary as part of her graduate studies. Additionally, she honed her skills in working with adults by teaching life skills to adults with mental and developmental disabilities. She completed a Master’s in Higher Education in June of 2015, earned a certificate from the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2017 for completing their Teacher Work Sample, and is currently earning a certificate in addictions counseling.

As a former adolescent and family therapist, Marilyn brings her passion for counseling to her online courses (introductory psychology and human development).  Marilyn has been teaching for over 24 years in the Social Science arena and has taught at several institutions of higher education. Marilyn enjoys teaching because “it affords me the opportunity to share knowledge directly from my field experience and stay informed on the latest research and literature related to the field”. Through research, Marilyn provides “best practices” to students who are preparing to work in the field of psychology. Recently, Marilyn has presented her EQ workshop to her colleagues at a conference for higher education and to professionals in the greater Des Moines area.
